🎓 GRADIENCE member, Dr. Giorgos Markopoulos, was a keynote speaker at the 12th Conference of Postgraduate Students and Doctoral Candidates, NKUA! ✨

We are proud to announce that Dr. G. Markopoulos, a key member of the GRADIENCE team, was a keynote speaker at the 12th Conference of Postgraduate Students and Doctoral Candidates at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), held on October 7-11, 2024.

Dr. Markopoulos presented his own research while also highlighting the objectives and progress of the GRADIENCE project, contributing to meaningful discussions about its impact on the field of linguistics.

📣 GRADIENCE at INALCO Paris! 

We are delighted to announce our participation in the Colloquium “Approches linguistiques comparatives du grec moderne 2”, taking place at INALCO, Paris, on September 13-14, 2024.

Our team will present an engaging talk titled: “Predictable Aspects of Lexical Stress in Nouns”, where we will share our latest findings and unveil an innovative grammatical model designed to predict stress patterns in Greek nouns.

But that’s not all! For those intrigued by linguistic challenges, we’re also working to expand this model to capture stress pattern preferences in Russian nouns.

We’re excited to share that Mary Soukalopoulou, Vassiliki Apostolouda, and Anthi Revithiadou presented their innovative work virtually at the Language, Education and Artificial Intelligence Conference, hosted by the University of Crete (Rethymnon) on May 10-12, 2024.

Their presentation, titled “The Contribution of ChatGPT to the Enhancement of Morphophonological Awareness in Courses on Phonology and Morphology in Higher Education,” showcased the transformative potential of AI tools in higher education linguistics courses.

🎊 Highlights from ISTAL 26! 

We are proud to announce that Vassiliki Apostolouda and Maria Soukalopoulou participated in the 26th International Symposium on Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (ISTAL 26) with an engaging poster presentation titled:
“Designing an Experimental Task for the Investigation of Stress in Greek”.

The symposium, hosted by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, took place on April 19-21, 2024, and showcased cutting-edge research in theoretical and applied linguistics.

We are thrilled to share that our team—Giorgos Markopoulos, Eirini Apostolopoulou, Vassiliki Apostolouda, and Anthi Revithiadou—recently presented their groundbreaking research “Beyond Unpredictability: A GHG Analysis of Greek Noun Stress” at the prestigious 54th Annual Meeting of the North East Linguistics Society (NELS 54)!
